Malou Cohen is a visual artist in Den Haag. Defining her work as a collection of daily finds, she describes her inspiration as “most beauty is in a dirty little corner“. In other words, she is finding the concept of beauty in real, meaningful objects.
MAKING USE OF her surroundings
Malou Cohen uses the city as her canvas. Where lots of people see stress and chaos, she sees untold stories. One of her projects ‘Een Goed Uitzicht’ illustrates this very well. Here, she took rocks from the streets and interpreted them as bigger landscapes where figures can sit on. To summarise: beauty is embedded in the meaninglessness of things and situations she encounters on the street, turning them into contemporary artworks.
