The SUITE702 brand name is a nod to the famous John Lennon and Yoko Ono Bed-in. In 1969, as a honeymoon, they spent a whole week in bed in Suite 702 of the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam South. John and Yoko’s Bed-In was all about World Peace. At SUITE702, they believe that your personal, 100% sustainable Bed Peace is a great start. “Log out. Skip all your (social) obligations. Treat yourself to some more Bed Peace.”
Good luxury bedding made of beautiful quality material is almost impossible to obtain in the Netherlands. What you can find is terribly expensive and often very trifle. At SUITE702 they would not be so quick to buy bedding costing hundreds of euros. In addition, most bedding is produced in a way that is very harmful to the environment and where the working conditions are often terrible. While fair and sustainably produced beautiful luxury bedding does not have to be that expensive. SUITE702 supplies “affordable sustainable luxury”: bedding that does not require you to bend over.
SUITE702 was founded by Shirley Muijrers and Olaf Arkauer. Shirley is a textile designer and teacher at the Design Academy Eindhoven. Olaf was an advertising strategist but changed course and went back to college to become an entrepreneur. With their two growing “tweens” they live in the heart of Amsterdam where there is always something going on. Shirley and Olaf know exactly where we all stand: log out more often and play truant in a very nice, very nice, completely guilt-free but affordable bed.
The Suite Life
SUITE702’s goal is to give the bedroom the Hotel Suite feeling and to make it so attractive that we will all not only want to go to bed earlier but preferably also stay in bed all week. “We started with luxury bedding. We have now added the bedMATE, bigDOT, and a bath collection. We continue to build the SUITE life with surprising items in fashionable colors.”
